PLANNING BETTER NEGOTIATIONS
(follow the link to see more details about this seminar)

This one-day seminar addresses the issues related to preparing and conducting negotiations. It is aimed at purchasing professionals who are at the middle to lower end of the experience spectrum. Rather than spending time playing the "negotiating games" of the more traditional negotiating courses, this seminar focuses on the reasons, logic, planning, and preparation for negotiations; issues which I feel are often overlooked as people rush into the "fun" part.

NEGOTIATING LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS

This presentation uses excerpts from my negotiation seminars and focuses on the fact that you can't negotiate a long term relationship with a baseball bat!

PATHFINDING

The premise of this presentation is that people, like many companies, are managing their personal careers with buzzwords, complacency and hope. This is a "kick-you-in-the-pants-and-get-moving in your own professional development. Included is a discussion of how people should be reacting to the Internet and how they could be taking professional advantage of it. It is not intended as an internet "HOW TO DO IT", but what you can do with the Internet and why you should.

PLANNING BETTER MEETINGS

This presentation discusses principles and ideas behind planning for a successful meeting.

VOLUNTEERING TO LEAD

This workshop focuses on the attributes and skills that make great leaders different from mediocre managers. It was designed primarily for officers and committee chairs of the volunteer organization.

BEST PROCUREMENT PRACTICES

A facilitated discussion of the differences and similarities in procurement principles between "Government" and "Commercial" procurement practices. Purpose is to help government purchasers incorporate commercial practices into "government" procurement; now possible because of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act.

BASIC INTERNET

A presentation of Internet basics; What it is; how it works and how to use it. Discussion for people who have heard of the Internet, but Don't know what it is or why they should be interested.

MAKING THE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS WORK FOR YOU

A presentation about how to take personal advantage of this not-well-liked part of work.

SELLING THE PURCHASING FUNCTION
(follow the link to see an outline)

Strategies for adding value and selling the purchasing function to senior management.

CYA in E-Commerce Security

We're not in Kansas anymore when we are doing business in Cyberspace.

The business rules change and so do the risks when you agree to send and receive orders, invoices, payments and sensitive business information using the world wide web. This workshop will explore some of the e-commerce security issues and techniques to mitigate the risks. What language do we need to add to our standard boiler plate, what assurances do we need from the supplier and what process changes do we need to implement internally to be safe? We'll talk about them all!

If you feel a draft when ordering on the web, this workshop is for you!

Plug and Play Negotiating.

Powerful skills that can help us consistently obtain the best deal possible.

The workshop will focus on negotiation techniques and skills that can be used in almost every negotiation to influence the outcome and obtain the best deal possible. We will discuss characteristics of the give-and-take process which can be turned to our advantage by doing a little pre-planning and preparation. We will also talk about personal habits and skills that can greatly improve your chances of success.

Wine Tasting - The Nickel Tour

One popular way to enjoy the fruit of the Northwest is by making it into wine. There are hundreds of wineries and they are a significant part of our economy. Wine Tasting is a popular tourist activity and the best way to find and try new wines. However, all of the wine terms and tasting snobs can make it hard to relax and enjoy the experience.

This fun program helps the novice understand and taste wines like a seasoned expert. If terms like varietal, vintage and fermentation give you the willies, then this program is for you!
