I spent the weekend at Edgefield near Portland. They were holding the annual Syrah festival and I represented Tefft with the '03 syrah. It was fun pouring for the tasting event. Lots of wineries and a very laid back crowd. Kind of a strange tasting; most people went straight to the food first instead of the wine. Contrary to the way we do it here.
While at Edgefield I had some time to relax, enjoy the property, have some great local brew and, of course, just a little syrah. The grounds are beautiful, flowers blooming and buildings a complex work of art..
They had a great silent auction of wine to benefit a farm worker charity. I dropped out early... besides I had to work. I was the only one wearing a tie... this pic before it all started when I was young and fresh. |

Lot's of room to wander. |
The garden is magnificent and worth an afternoon of browsing. |
The distillery bar, a great place to smoke cigars. |
Art on all the walls, doors and fixtures. This is kind of how I felt after the tasting. |

So Treah, you should have heard all the frogs just outside my room! |
I'd love to have a few of the big porches. |

I walked past this bar twice before I
finally noticed it. About enough room to open the wine bottle - if
everyone leans the same way. |
GREAT FOOD! the chef has a monstrous herb garden - but someone left the door open. |
This is part of their wine cellar. |
Switch plate art. |

In a quiet, out-of-the-way thicket, this
tribute to Jerry Garcia holds court. Looks like some of his friends
wander down in the evening to meditate - or something.
